That Time of Year
Choices, choices, choices. So many choices on what style you will be doing in 2026. It is never too late to begin! Many people still do New Year’s resolutions. “I want to start a business this year.” “I want to see my family more.” “This year I’ll glow up.” It all starts with you and how you will perceive yourself—especially in fashion.
A lot of fashion enthusiasts this year have given their opinions on what will be the trend of 2026. Maybe people will be inspired by Zara Larsson and her Scandinavian Barbie and pop-infused nostalgia. This was the breakthrough of her career, and the aesthetic itself received positive reviews from critics, especially online creators and pop fans.
Others say we will move more towards the polka-dot community. The trend was very visible in 2023 but died down towards the end of the year. There are many predictions on what will and could happen for the year 2026. Tights with heels have already been done, but was it as popular a trend as it was this year? Online creators spoke about how layering will be added more towards clothing: dresses over denim jeans, oversized shirts with longer skirts, and tote bags. They are all predictions which have been done or are overdue.
However, Dulzura has hinted that fur will be the “it” thing in 2026, following other fur stylistic choices. Aside from Dulzura, others think cheetah prints will be back; Y2K was already a popular styling choice in 2022–2023. Viewers leaned more towards the 2000s aesthetic, but it has already been done and dusted.
To be totally fair, a lot of viewers have debated whether these styling choices and predictions would actually occur in 2026. You can’t really predict fashion when trends can come out of the blue. For example, we had Loewe’s Deflated Balloon Pump that famous pop singer Ariana Grande wore. Everyone was talking about it until it slowly started to deteriorate in styling.
One fashion trend that a lot of people have been wearing is pumps or ballet flats. This became a common trend on Pinterest, often associating them with tights or jeans. Another fashion trend that was deemed successful in 2025 was the Maison Margiela x Louboutin limited drop, which a lot of people criticised, comparing them to horse hooves.
In conclusion, there could be numerous trends for 2026. For all we know, everyone could be into neon shoes or wearing slippers everywhere. No one truly knows, but for now, we can just guess.
